Assignment #3
You are to assume the role of a management team member for a 1,600 room hotel located in walking distance of the convention center of a very popular tourist destination. The hotel's bookings have fallen recently, even when there are major conventions at the convention center. The hotel offers basic guest services, and the facility has not been renovated in several years. Your major competition offers full guest services in a facility that is only three years old. You need to review the hotel's guest services and offer suggestions to improve the offerings. What would you suggest? (open response rubric)
  • Since I am a member of a management team for a hotel that is located near a very popular tourist site, I would suggest in improving the facility itself since it must be more that three years old, which will also help to improve the staff members attitudes towards where they work and how they treat the guests. Improving the style and look of the hotel will give it a better reputation and also allow the guests to have incredible services provided by the hotel staff if everyone is at a happy work environment. Being at a stressful work place will turn the staff members attitudes into mean and disrespect people, something that the guests do not want to deal with while they are on vacation, or just need some place to stay while they go to the convention center.
